Diwali comes early for contractual employees in Odisha
On Saturday some 57,000 contract employees in Odisha got a surprise gift ahead of Diwali as the government announced the abolishing of contractual hiring and said they will be regularised.
The decision, for which the state government will spend an additional Rs 1,300 crore per year, was taken at a Cabinet meeting on the eve of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 76th birthday.
