Rahul Koli, Who Played A Significant Role In India’s Oscars Entry ‘Chhello Show’ Is No More

Rahul Koli, one of the six child actors who played a significant character in India’s official Oscar Entry Chhello Show or The Last Film Show died on October 2. Rahul was 10. According to a TOI report, actor Rahul was suffering from leukemia.

India’s official Oscar entry Chhello Show was due for release in theatres on October 14 and makers announced on Monday that the film will be screened in 95 theatres across India.

Reportedly, Rahul’s father Ramu Koli said that his child was eagerly looking forward to the release of his film.

Talking about how his eldest child left for the heavenly abode, Rahul’s father further said that the child actor had repeated bouts of fever and vomited blood before his death.

“On Sunday, October 2, he had his breakfast, and then after repeated bouts of fever in the following hours, Rahul vomited blood thrice and just like that my child was no more. Our family is devastated,” Ramu Koli told TOI.

Rahul’s father also told the media outlet that the whole family will watch their son’s ‘last film show’ together after performing Rahul’s last rites. “He was so happy and would often tell me that our lives would change after October 14 (the release date of the movie). But he left us before that,” Ramu further said during the interview.

Meanwhile, makers have also announced that tickets for ‘Chhello Show’ have been priced at Rs 95.

Gujarati film Chhello Show is a coming-of-age drama, which has been chosen as India’s official entry for the best international feature film category at the 95th Academy Awards.

Directed by Pan Nalin, Chhello Show is inspired by Nalin’s childhood memories of falling in love with films in rural Gujarat. The movie is set in a village of Saurashtra and it follows the story of a young boy whose lifelong love affair with cinema begins after he bribes his way into a projection booth to spend a summer watching movies.

As reported by Hindustan Times, FFI president TP Aggarwal revealed that India’s official Oscar entry Chhello Show was unanimously chosen over SS Rajamouli’s film RRR, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, and R Madhavan’s directorial debut Rocketry and Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One Shiva.
