Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on one Kartik Gandhi, the owner of a pet dog that bit a boy on Wednesday in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
In addition, the pet owner has also been asked to pay the entire amount for the treatment of the boy who the dog injured.
Dog attacked without provocation
GNIDA medical officer Dr Prem Chand has directed the owner to deposit the fine within seven working days. Failure to deposit the fine or not paying for the treatment will result in further action against the dog owner, the notice warned.
The incident happened on Wednesday inside the elevator of La Residentia Society’s tower seven in Greater Noida.
The incident occurred when the boy and his mother entered the lift, which already had the dog with his owner. The dog bit on his hand, leaving him injured.

Second incident in a week
Just days ago, another video surfaced from Greater Noida showing a pet dog attacking the security guard of a housing society.
The incident occurred in Greater Noida’s Unitech Horizon society on November 10.
Last month a seven-month-old child was mauled by a stray dog inside a group housing society in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
New guidelines for dog owners in Noida
Following the recent incidents, the Noida authority announced a pet policy with a steep increase in the pet registration fee, a fine of Rs 10,000 in case a pet dog or cat attacks someone.
As per the guidelines issued by the authority, pet owners have to register their dogs or cats by January 31 next year or they will have to pay a fine.
The sterilization or antirabies vaccination of pet dogs has also been made mandatory, while in case of violation, there is a provision to impose a fine of Rs 2000 every month.
The feeding place in the outdoor area will be marked where necessary, and the feeders/RWA /AOA will make arrangements for food and drink.
“If a pet dog is littered in a public place, it will be the responsibility of the animal owner to clean it,” it said.
The authority also said that the treatment of the injured person or animal will be the responsibility of the owner of the pet.
