TTE Booked Under Attempt To Murder After Soldier Pushed Out Of Moving Train Loses Both His Legs

In a shocking incident, an Indian Army soldier has lost both legs and is in critical condition after a ticket checker (TTE) allegedly pushed him under a moving train.

The incident happened on the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on Thursday morning while the train was on Platform Number 2 of Bareilly Junction railway station.

Here is what happened

The victim, identified as Sonu Kumar Singh, the 29-yr-old jawan of the 24 Rajputana Rifles, was allegedly pushed from the train following an argument with the TTE.

According to railway officials, an argument broke out between the TTE, identified as Supan Bore and Sonu over the ticket while he was boarding the train.

In a fit of anger, Bore allegedly pushed the army man out and he fell under the train.

One of his legs fell under the wheels and got dismembered, while his other leg was crushed and had to be amputated.

“He was rushed to a military hospital. He has lost his legs and his condition remains critical,” an official told PTI.

TTE absconding, booked for murder

Following the incident, Bore has been charged for an attempt to murder. He has been absconding since the incident.

“TTE Bore has been booked under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder). He is absconding and efforts to arrest him are on,” Station House Officer of Government Railway Police Ajit Pratap Singh told PTI.

There are also reports that some co-passengers and colleagues of the soldier beat up the TTE after the incident.

“We are looking at the CCTV footage,” Senior Finance Manager of Moradabad Division under the Northern Railways, Sudhir Singh, said.

Passenger dies after being pushed off train by TTE

In May 2021, a similar incident was reported from the Badshahnagar railway station near Lucknow.

A passenger, identified as Vasant, was pushed off a train from Secunderabad to Gorakhpur by a TTE after an argument over his ticket, resulting in his death.

Following the incident, the TTE Jai Narayan Yadav was arrested by the GRP and a case was registered against him under section 304 of the IPC.(culpable homicide not amounting to murder)
