Now, Bihar Robbers Steal Mobile Tower Worth Rs 19 Lakh in Patna

Cases of theft being reported are not so uncommon. But when it comes to Bihar, cases of peculiar thievery have been witnessed. In the recent past, robbers in Bihar have stolen infrastructure – ranging from bridges to train engines. Now, in a strange case, a mobile tower has been stolen in the capital of Bihar – Patna.

Tower was dismantled and taken away

The incident that occurred in the Yarpur Rajputana area came to light only when company officials reached the spot to inspect a malfunctioning tower. To their surprise, there was no mobile tower at the site. The thieves had dismantled the whole tower and loaded the parts into the truck before taking it away. The bridge was worth Rs 19 lakh and was installed around 15-16 years ago, Times Now reported.

Theives posed as company officials

The robbers, disguised as company officials, visited the site and told the landlord that his agreement to house the bridge on his property had expired. As a result, the thieves stated that the tower was being taken away.

According to the official complaint, the gang of thieves comprised 25 individuals- who were equipped with tools, gas cutters and other required tools. After concerned company officials registered a complaint, the Gardnibagh police initiated a search to track the robbers.

Exploits of the recent past

Recently, robbers stole an entire diesel engine from a railway yard in the Begusarai district of Bihar. The thieves dug a tunnel into the yard and started picking parts off the engine that was brought there for repairs. Eventually, the whole engine was stolen.

In April 2022, a full-size iron bridge was stolen from Bihar’s Rohtas district. A gang of thieves stole a 60-foot defunct iron bridge in broad daylight. The thieves, posing as officers of the state Irrigation Department, used gas cutters and earth mover machines to demolish the bridge and remove the scrap metal in three days.
